Don't panic

It's still me. I'm just experimenting with a different template, that's all. It might stay like this for another year, or it might look subtly (or totally) different over the next few days. But nothing else has changed. I still love you.

So long as you know where your towel is, you'll be fine.

May we comment on the new layout or should we hold our collective tongues until you are done messing with it?

I've just done laundry, so plenty of towels here.

Please do comment. But I've already changed it once since the first time I put up this post, so be specific!

I like it better with the picture, than before without - that looked too much like a science blog.

But you need to change the color of your titles, because they are hard to read on the sky and tree background. Maybe a light color?

And on Firefox your header covers up half of the Blogspot symbol, which looks a bit weird.

Otherwise fine. ;)

Okay, I'll darken the title; though it only intersects with the tree when you have a very wide screen. Is the tree right in the middle of the words for you? I can't change the subheading colour. I might find a different photo.

I don't see the header covering the blogspot symbol. I'm on Firefox too and I don't see it, even when I log out of Blogger. At the top? What words are in the header you're talking about? Tell me more.

There, is that better for the title and subhead?

The color is much better. The words are right on top of the tree for me. Maybe I have a wide screen, because 7/8s of the way over to the right, the picture starts repeating, so you get a weird square of light blue sky.

And just above the "wf" of the title is what looks to be the top of an orange B, sticking out from the picture and on a dark blue background.

Hope that helps.

Well that's just wierd. What size is your screen and do you have the window fully maximised? Even on B's larger laptop screen we didn't see it start to tile.

And I have no clue why you're seeing a big orange Blogger B there. My header background is a paler blue than the picture, and there's no large B there. Will try to investigate further. Thanks for the feedback!

It is maximized on my 15in screen. Who knows. Doesn't bother me. ;)

Miranda, are you sure that's tiling? The source photo has multiple trees, and the section used for the banner includes parts of two of them.

Hey DreadPirate! ;) Yes, it is definitley tiling. I see the two trees in the main picture (one whole and one half) and part of the left-hand blue sky repeats on the right-hand side of the picture, after the second tree. Looks exactly like the left-hand side of the picture. Same cloud pattern, etc. . .

Hmm. I'm on a 15" Macbook Pro, at the highest screen resolution available (1440x900). I can see tiling if I extend the Firefox window another inch-and-a-half past full-screen width (that is, I full-screen it, then drag FF 1.5 inches to the left, then stretch the window to take up the freed real estate on the right).

So do you have crazy high resolution? Or what's the height of the banner for you?

Yes, it seems I do have crazy high resolution - 1920x1200. That must be it. We architects like our dpi.

FYI - it looks fine in the computer lab in studio. They must have fewer dpi.

Sorry. I spoke too soon. It looks fine, when not maximised, but you can only see one tree. When maximised, it looks the same as at home.

Okay, I'm going to assume most people don't have that sort of resolution, and not going to worry about it. But thanks for all the info.
